I called the phone number that was listed for the Leipzig location inquiring about a server project where I needed hardware, labor and an office with some server rack space to set up 2 Dell R640 servers. I understand that an American calling a German IT company trying to do this project in Leipzig is not very common. But it is a “unique-project” one could say. Thinking I could work with the Leipzig office, I called the number listed here. The phone number instead went to their office in Duisburg where a sales guy named Markus M. was very nice to me and had me email him my quote request for the 2 servers. He explained to me that they had a great relationship with Dell and could give me good pricing. I explained to him what I was looking to do and he seemed very friendly asking a little bit about my situation and why I was in Germany, etc. The trouble started with his response email- he said he needed more details about me to verify my employment and he needed me to send him an email from my company email etc. I replied to his email and even sent him a copy of my passport (to go above and beyond) and I also called him. He again was very friendly on the phone- no sign from him that he still has doubts about my identity/background. Later, he again sends an email to my HR department asking if I was an employee and if I had permission to act on behalf of the company!Wow, an investigation was started on me for a simple price request!!! I wish Markus would have been honest and just told me he needs to verify a few things about my employment/company. Rather, he just wasted my time and he was friendly on the phone while he secretly had concerns about verifying my identity. It would have been much simpler if he would have just been upfront with me and told me he doesn’t believe me and needs to take safeguards. It has been 3 days since I contacted Markus, and the only emails I have from Markus are emails asking me questions about my background, company or emails to my HR department asking if I am authorized to deal on behalf of the company. This is absolutely ridiculous! This company is not serious, they play games. Avoid this IT company.
