Carl Duisberg Centrum Saarbrücken

I've only been here two months but I'm already liking everything I see so far in terms of student accommodation. Only issue so far is that internet is difficult to set up as it is not part of the contract.

Review for student apartments: Great budget housing. Rooms are simple but sufficient. Fast bus connection to HTW Rothenbühl campus (7 min). Saarbasar shopping center (6 min) and city (14 min). Students attending UDS have to change bus one time (30min). Building is on a steep hill, so apartments from +5th floor facing the city have a panoramic view but might get warm during summer. Directly in front of a forest which is great for jogging. Very helpful house management. Washing machines and dryers in basement are a plus. A bit remote, so maybe not for you if you like to party in the city but close enough for everything to be reached within reasonable time. I like it.

La mayor riqueza es la multiplicidad de naciones/ culturas/ religiones que se concentran en un misno espacio. Se aprende mucho de diferentes realidades, se traban amistades y tambien se derriban muchos mitos conviviendo durante varias semanas con estudiantes de todas las edades y latitudes del mundo.Las instalaciones son muy lindas y las vivencias inolvidables....

It has been 3 months and 2 weeks since I moved out.However, I have not received the deposit yet.(On their hompage, the deposit shall be returned in 4 - 6 weeks.)

En el año 1992, ente Abril y Agosto, pasé muy buenos momentos en lo que por entonces se denominaba el Centro de Recepción de la CDG. Conocí a muchas personas de diferentes nacionalidades. Una gran experiencia multicultural.

I lived in Carl Duisberg Haus for four months during the winter 2018 semester for a study abroad program.The rental price for a room + bathroom plus shared kitchen is very reasonable, but unfortunately, the shared kitchen and living area is extremely dirty. On several floors I have seen dirty kitchen areas.I made my room as beautiful as I could, and spent a lot of time cleaning it when I arrived. I enjoyed my roommates, and the quality of the furniture was good.I particularly enjoyed the view, and being so close by the woods. However, the location is not great. There is a Netto about a ten minute walk away, but it takes 40 minutes to walk to town or to a bigger grocery store. It also takes 40 mins walking to the university through the woods, or 30 by bus. I walked everyday to the university through the woods because many days the buses would be late.Overall it was a good experience, but not the best place to live for a young student. If I had to choose again, I would pick an apartment closer to the downtown, or one that had cleaner living arrangements.

Прохожу тут курсы немецкого B2. Все нравится. Преподавательницы Таня и Николь, обе хорошие. Рекомендую

One plus point of this place is the view. The building is away from the city centre and has a great view of the forest and city. But if you want a social student life and a party atmosphere, this is probably not the best place. There is a bus stop right outside the building. There are direct connections to Saar Basar (a shopping mall), the central railway station, and the city centre, but you have to change 1 connection to go to the university. Netto is also a 10 minute walk away. The flats are shared by 4 people, where the kitchen is common, and each person gets their own furnished room and bathroom. It's a nice setup.A bad side of this place is that the management for the student housing can be unhelpful. Fridges are broken, windows are not opening properly, and lights stop working randomly. But the worst part is that there is just one elevator which was shut off for 6+ weeks (!) for renovation. Even after that, it stops functioning randomly. It's highly frustrating for people living on the 6th floor and above when it comes to buying groceries/ordering food etc. I had to help a flatmate carry 3 large suitcases down 9 flights of stairs because the elevator was not working when she moved out. There were problems with hot water supply for almost 5 months before they finally fixed it. The main door lock and intercom system were also broken for a while.Initially this was all still bearable because the rent was cheap, but they have increased that too, so overall it's just not worth it after a point. The management takes quite a while to respond sometimes, and do not always resolve the problem.
