We were in the process of buying a house, agreed on a price with the seller and were waiting for the agent and seller to provide us all the documents to give the bank for our mortgage. We handled major logistics to get the money we needed for it, bank had already given us the preliminary ok and just needed the official house plans and documents. This took several months to get from the agent and seller because apparently the offices were not working as well as normally due to covid, fine, whatever.This was at the beginning of the summer. The house needed anyway a bit of renovations before we would move in so we got going at least on the prep work, got new space plans drawn, full renovations work out (many many hours of work) got price estimates etc. As I was already pregnant when this started we had it all timed pretty close so that we could move in before the due date.The delays in giving us the remaining documents and answering communication continued but we didn't get too worried as the agent assured us it was all under control and we'd soon get everything needed so that we'd get the final approval from the bank and set a notary appointment.Then suddenly a couple of weeks ago the agent calls us and says that he is sorry but the seller actually got a notary appointment and sold the house to someone else the day before! He claimed he had no idea this was happening and very sorry about our plans and baby coming but nothing he could do about it now.So maybe he knew or maybe he didn't but either way this was extremely unprofessional.
