Denkmal für die im Nationalsozialismus ermordeten Sinti und Roma Europas

This monument stands in memory of the Sinti and Roma who were persecuted in much the same way Jews were by the Nazis. The memorial is an enclosed area within Tiergarten with a large circular pool with a triangular stone plaque, in reference similar badges that had to be worn by concentration camp prisoners. Around the pool are paving stones, some of which have names of concentration camps carved into them.The walls of the memorial describe in painful detail about the persecution of Sinti and Roma. Visit this to remind ourselves just how cruel people can be and how not to allow these things to happen again.

Ein Ort an dem die ganzen Holocaust-Leugner endlich mal den Mund halten. Liebe Mitbürger der Sinti und Roma, Deutschland steht in Ihrer Schuld.

Eine würdige Lage, ruhig in einem Waldstück, zentral zwischen dem Reichstagsgebäude und dem Brandenburger Tor, angemessen für die Erinnerung. Das Ehrenmal empfinde ich dennoch als enttäuschend, obwohl durchaus nicht verdreckt, wirkt alles etwas nicht ausreichend gepflegt. Nach Durchschreiten der Glaswand mit mehrsprachigen Gravuren über Granitblocks, teilweise mit Gravuren der Namen von Lagern steht man vor der zentralen, künstlichen Wasserfläche. Und der Boden dieser zentralen Wasserfläche aus beschichteten Metallplatten zeigen merklichen Verschleiß, die zum Erschließen der Gedenkstätte leider notwendigen Flyer sind nicht vorhanden, ihre Boxen mit Klebeband notdürftig geflickt.

Ich finde den Gedanken hinter dem Denkmal echt schön. Außerdem habe ich mich wirklich sehr gefreut, dass dieser Ort den Respekt zu bekommen scheint, den er verdient. Gut gepflegt.

A beautiful park with lots of history. Very emotional stories you can read here. Free of charge to see the place and see the monument. Cannot pass by and not stop to read all of this.I got really emotional reading all this information. I guess you will too. Also around this area you will find lots of Historical Places. Make sure to visit them all. You won't regret it.

Die Infos auf der Tafel sind sehr erschreckend und beschreiben einige grausame Ereignisse von damals. Sehr ruhig gelegen.

It was the most affecting point for me in Berlin. It is really sad place and it gives you undescribable feelings mostly sadness. I found this point by chance while leaving the Bundestag.Maybe you pass by and remember those lost poor souls.

Beautiful memorial of a lesser-known tragedy. Historical facts written on the entrance walls are a good source of information before going in. Don't forget to look at the ground where all gypsies" internment camps are engraved in stones."

Very small and quiet memorial. The etched glass panels in German and English detailing the plight the Gypsies faced leading up to and during WWII is well done. A touching memorial that serves both to remember and to educate.
