I stopped in a purchased a 1950 Omega watch (Bumper/Automatic). I asked them if they had confirmed that the watch is authentic and if the watch had been recently serviced. They told me that it was confirmed authentic Omega and that it had recently been serviced. I was only in town for a few hours and then left Bavaria headed towards Amsterdam. Over the next few days it became apparent I had been sold a watch in very poor condition. After the first full day of wear, I realized the watch was losing several minutes per day - not a sign of a recently serviced watch which I tried to remain positive about as I hadn't yet fully wound the watch. The watch strap started falling to pieces within two days. Within 7 days the crystal fell out of the watch and I had to carefully store it until I could get home to have it serviced. After having it brought in for an inspection, I was told it had not been serviced and will cost me almost as much as I paid for the watch to have it properly serviced. I wish that they would have been honest with me and sold me the watch at a fair value and not misrepresented the condition of the watch. I wish there was an email I could contact the owners at so they could attempt to set this right. I will update my post if they reach out to me.***Update: I received the watch back from service today. It’s been returned to working condition. The main spring had rusted together at multiple points, the crystal needed replacing, the bezel had to be repaired as it had bent, and the stem needed replacing. It was believed that the watch had not been serviced in decades. If ever.I still wish the owners would make this situation right. Just respond and we can start a discussion.
