In both cemeteries a diverse flora and fauna has developed over the years.At the old gravestones and trees a total of 69 species of moss were recorded, 11 of which are endangered.The bird life is also diverse: on the Hase cemetery there are 27 breeding bird species in 251 territories and in the Johannis cemetery 26 species in 185 territories.
