St.-Jakobs-Kirche

A beautiful church full of history. We paid a few euros to enter and received a pamphlet with some information on it’s history. We did not experience any difficulty with communication upon entering. I believe they do offer tours but we did not attend. You can take the stairs to the second floor to see the Altar of the Holy Blood. It is recommended that you wear a mask but the majority of the visitors were not wearing one.

The church of St. James is an awe inspiring display of architecture. The church was built from 1311 to 1484 and the organs are impressive. If you have the chance to go during advent, they have organ concerts. The wooden alter is a relic. There are so many detailed carvings, it is almost impossible to see them all with their intriguing details. The stained glass windows are truly a sight for themselves. I cannot imagine all the hours it took to create them.

Die (ursprünglich katholische) evangelisch-lutherische Stadtpfarrkirche St. Jakob in Rothenburg ob der Tauber wurde zwischen 1311 und 1484 erbaut. Dabei wurde der Ostchor 1322 vollendet, nach einer Baupause wurde das Hauptschiff zwischen 1373 und 1436 errichtet. Der eine Straße überbrückende Westchor mit der Heilig-Blut-Kapelle wurde zwischen 1453 und 1471 erbaut. Die Weihe erfolgte 1485. 1544 wurde die Reformation eingeführt.

Finde ich eigentlich unglaublich, als Christ und seit Jahrzehnten Kirchensteuerzahlender Bürger Deutschlands € 3,50,- pro Person für den Eintritt in ein Gotteshaus zu verlangen......Und zusätzlich in einem wirklich unverschämten Ton.Sollte man nicht tun.

Just go for a visit if you are in Rothenburg.Absolutely stunning Gothic architecture. Came around such a remarkably beautiful church after a long time. Although they do charge for the entrance but it is completely worth it, considering the information they provide (if you are interested in knowing the history). The paintings over the glass windows feel like almost alive and the Altar of the Holy Blood was something I could not stop looking at. The scriptures carved out of wood are just something to admire at. Felt completely at peace as I sat and prayed here.

Wenn man für die Besichtigung einer Kirche Eintritt zahlen muss, stutzt man zunächst ganz schön. Nichtmal der Petersdom hält für eine Besichtigung die Hand auf. Dafür gibts den Stern Abzug. Überall Spendenkisten aufzustellen und zusätzlich ein Geschäftsmodell zu entwickeln, scheint unchristlich. Schön ist die Kirche trotzdem und weiß auch mit ihrem Charme zu verzaubern. Ein Besuch lohnt also.

Wir hatten heute spontan gegen 14:30 Uhr eine Führung durch die Kirche. Das war toll und sehr informativ. Der Eintritt war dadurch total gerechtfertigt. Hat mir sehr gut gefallen

Von außen wunderschön, ein imposantes Bauwerk. Von innen kann ich nicht beurteilen, da es mir widerstrebt, für ein Gotteshaus Eintritt zu bezahlen. Das kenne ich bisher von keiner Kirche. Andere Kirchen müssen ihre Gotteshäuser auch instandhalten. Eine Kirche sollte allen ohne Eintrittsgelder zugänglich sein. Und der Kassierer war sowas von unhöflich, das geht überhaupt nicht.
