Fledermausstation

Until the middle of the 20th century, the so-called Burkarder Umlaufkanal was located here, which between 1680 and 1892 was the most important bypass route of the Streichwehr in the Main above the Old Main Bridge. Today's park is a very important habitat for bats in the city of Würzburg.The park offers bats all the structures they need to survive in a very small space: cool, frost-free winter quarters, an insect-rich hunting area and summer quarters. Some species, such as the pipistrelle bat, live here all year round.
