I'm a beginner German learner and currently working through the A1 course. Although I'm still very early on in my German learning journey (~22% into A1), I have already began to notice improvements in my understanding of the German language. It is a challenging course, if it wasn't, you wouldnt fully learn the language, but the key to this course is it's also enjoyable and Michael does a great job at settling any worries and motivating his students!When you purchase this course, you don't only recieve your learning materials, but you have access to an online community, where you can engage with other German learners, read success stories and ask any burning questions you may have as you proceed with the course.

TL;DR - individual lessons with Micheal are totally worth the money spent.Micheal helped me to get from A2 to B1 speaking level in two months (for Goethe exam - speaking part).With the perfect balance of encouragement and pressure he was able to motivate me to work on my German every day with caution to not make feel overwhelmed. He was available every day via WhatsApp and went beyond and above with support during the exam process.I have not only succeeded with the Goethe exam, but also raised my confidence to speak German in public.

The structure of Smarter German is such that you feel like Michael is personally speaking to you through it. I have tried to learn German many times before and this time I feel I have found a good structure. Micheal's humour doesn't hurt either!

The SmarterGerman courses are hands down the ultimate, best way to self study German. These courses are not cheap but if you are committed to studying German this is the best it gets. I have tried learning with the Goethe Institut in San Francisco and felt I only made little progress. After considerable research I found SmarterGerman and have been very impressed with the thoroughness of the courses, the strong community, and the various methods to address different parts of the language (speech, grammar etc.). Many in the community have shared their very positive results passing the various test levels as a testimony that this approach really works. These are very comprehensive courses and are not for the faint of heart. On top of it all, I would like to mention Michael's invaluable dedication. It is apparent that this is a work of love and I am very happy to recommend it.

SmarterGerman hat die deutsche Gramatik eleichtert!Ich habe mit Hilfe von SG meinen Testdaf Prüfung bestanden und jetzt habe ich eine Zulassung von CAU Kiel erhalten.

Ich habe die Videos von Justin gesehen und finde es sehr gut und hilfsbereit. Ich kann sagen dass es die klügeste Weise ist, die Deutschsprache zu lernen.

I've tried in person classes, other online courses, private tutor... but none of them beats Smarter German! Michael's teaching style is modern and relaxed, but also gets into all the grammar and details. It's even fun, I actually wake up excited to the next lesson! I can see all the effort the team had to develop continuously the structure of the courses, the stories, the sophisticated learning tools the course offers. I can say I am a huge fan! I can't recommend SmarterGerman enough!

I began this course on a whim, I tried so many language courses in the past. This was the first one that I've actually been motivated to stick to. A few hours a day, I finally feel like I'm making progress! For English speakers wanting to learn German this course is the way to do it. The only tool you'll need to learn German properly at your own pace. The instructor is incredible and the songs will get stuck in your head. I love this course.
