Internationale Montessorischule (IMS) Berlin

First impressions are misleading. The school does its best to present itself in a positive light, investing in photographers and marketing films and the like. But looking behind the scenes you get a very different picture. The school is chronically understaffed and has a very high staff turnover, which doesn’t make for a stable learning environment. My son had no German teacher for half the school year and you’re paying a lot of money for a bilingual school. His class teacher repeated everything he had learned the previous year. In his own words, he learned nothing that whole year.The school also has a serious bullying problem. Under its former headmaster, only lip service was paid to tackling this issue, but in the end, despite all assurances to the contrary, nothing much was actually done to stop it. Outside the classroom, the bullies continued to do as they please and even feature in the marketing film on the school website. Having the financial support of their wealthy parents seems to be more important than ensuring the welfare of the other children. My son is still suffering the negative consequences of being bullied at this school and was left to fend for himself against groups of older children regularly ganging up on him. There were plenty of opportunities, since there were often no supervisors around and, even if there were, they didn’t do much to stop it anyway. I do hope that under the new headmaster a different approach may be taken and that this issue is tacked more seriously. It’s an obstacle to creating a peaceful and cooperative environment in which the children can thrive and feel safe.

I am wondering who is writing bad comments about our school? Our kid is for 3 years here now and he enjoys it! Conflicts happen, but they are always resolved in a right way. Absolute majority of parents are satisfied, so you shouldn’t trust comments on Google, but better come and see yourself how and what. You may contact me if you like

A terrible and discriminatory attitude towards a child with developmental disabilities. After two trial days, we were refused on the reason that the child has poor coordination of movements (the child takes the rehabilitation for the third year and has significant improvements, but the school did not even ask about this). The second argument was the child doesn't speak English. At the same time, the school is bilingual and child has a good level of german, and it’s not native language for him. Unfortunately, the school selects convinient" children and violates all principles of humanising pedagogy. Maria Montessori would be ashamed of such a school."

This place was a nightmare. Badly run, total chaos in the classroom, lots of kids with major behavioral problems and personnel not trained to deal with it. My first grader basically left to his own devices. He was very badly bullied on the nonexistent playground and no one intervened. Even other kids told me how bad it was, including stone throwing. My kid is still traumatized a year and a half later. He has since been diagnosed ADHD and is starting therapy. Unless your kid is not only neurotypical but can basically teach themselves, and you're not concerned about their social development, don't go here. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention they have almost 100% teacher turnover from year to year, which must surely also mean something.

Super Schule! Kompetente Lehrer, die sich wirklich kümmern. Kleine Klassen, komplette Ausstattung mit Montessori Material. Am Waldrand gelegen. Ausbildung im besten Sinne von Maria Montessori. Unser Sohn freut sich jeden Tag auf die Schule!Die neue Schulführung macht sehr gute Arbeit.

Wir sind sehr enttäuscht von dieser Schule - soziale Arbeit nicht vorhanden - Maria Montessori würde sich schämen....hier gibt es mehr Schein als Sein...

Die wunderschöne Lage und der liebevoll erhaltene Bau dieser internationalen Montessorischule lässt einem schon beim ersten Besuch das Herz aufgehen. Diese Stimmung steht auch sinnbildlich für die gesamte Atmosphäre an der Schule.Nach einem verstörenden Schulstart in einer öffentlichen Grundschule, hatten wir das große Glück an dieser Schule einen Platz zu bekommen. Vom ersten Kontakt, den Informationsabenden, über die Hospitationen und die Aufnahmeorganisation waren wir sehr positiv überrascht und sind bis heute jeden Tag dankbar.Besonders bemerkenswert ist der freundliche und respektvolle Umgang miteinander, zwischen den Kindern, zwischen Lehrern, Erziehern und den Kindern und auch in Bezug auf die Eltern.Das Montessori-Konzept beschränkt sich nicht nur auf die Materialien in den Klassen, sondern wird grundlegend gelebt. Das hat dazu geführt, dass unser Kind nach dem verängstigenden Start an der anderen Schule, sich nun jeden Tag auf die Schule freut und richtig aufgeblüht ist und am Nachmittag die Schule gestärkt verlässt und wirklich oft sagt „das war der beste Schultag, den ich je hatte“. Die Wissbegierde ist enorm gestiegen und nach wenigen Monaten ist Lesen auf Deutsch schon flüssig und auf Englisch sogar schon gut genug, um den Inhalt zu verstehen.Herauszuheben ist auch die Betreuung nach der Schule: nicht wie auf der vorherigen Schule eine reine „Aufbewahrung“ der Kinder in Innenräumen, in denen sie still sein müssen. Die Kinder werden hier liebevoll umsorgt und können bei Wind und Wetter draußen spielen. Weiterhin gibt es unzählige tolle Arbeitsgemeinschaften und für alle Kinder mindestens einen Nachmittag im Wald pro Woche.Diese Schule ist ein Segen für Kinder!

Die Schule ist toll! Mein Sohn war in drei anderen Schule vorher und er sagt jetzt, ich liebe meine Schule! Er geht gern und glücklich zur Schule! Er kann auch viel besser lernen, die Montessori Methode ist für ihn das richtig! Die Lehrer sind gut ausgebildet und gehen liebevoll mit der kinder um. Es ist euch eine internationale Schule, mit Kinder aus der ganzen Welt, ich kann die Schule nur empfehlen.
